Personally, I think one of the problems with online arguments is that we are only reading words; we do not know the attitude or the emotions of the person writing it and then we interpret their dialog any way we want. When speaking to someone face to face we can usually tell how they are feeling. I think the presence of another person is also somewhat soothing and empathetic as opposed to sitting alone and staring at a glaring computer screen. Face to face we also have the benefit of instant answers to our queries. I think it is the lack of human contact and the lack of emotions that brings out the bitterness in our responses. >:p
